The mini-series follows the experiences of men and their comrades-in-arms, from the first clashes with the Japanese in Guadalcanal, through the rainforests on Cape Gloucester, Peleliu bastions, Iwo Jima"s bloody sands, through the horror in Okinawa, to the triumph and difficult return home after the victory over Japan .
