by Michel Hazanavicius with Bérénice Bejo, Annette Bening (2014)
The film takes place during the Second Chechen War, in 1999. It tells, on a human scale, four destinies that the war will lead to intersect. After the murder of his parents in his village, a little boy flees, joining the flood of refugees. He meets Carole, project manager for the European Union. With her, he will slowly come back to life. At the same time, Raissa, his older sister, actively searches for him among exodus civilians. For his part, Kolia, a young Russian of 20, is enlisted in the army. Little by little, he will switch to the daily life of war.
