In 1855, three women who lost their minds were driven from their village, and entrusted to Mary Bee Cuddy, a strong and independent pioneer from Nebraska. On her way to Iowa, where these women can find refuge, she crosses paths with Georges Biggs, a vagrant boor that she saves from imminent death. They decide to join forces in order to face, together, the harshness and the dangers which prevail in the vast expanses of the Frontier.
